sports_ref.jpgMarathons, triathlons, 10Ks and other sporting events run better with PointsMap. Our interactive maps let athletes, runners, walkers and spectators visually travel the courses and become familiar with the area so they can prepare and pre-plan. Whether it is a city-wide route crisscrossing main roads or a major outdoor event, PointsMap lets you map out the entire course, including every spectator and participant area, landmark, parking areas and traffic avoidance spots. You can mark the course of a race to alert drivers to closed roads or show visitors the best locations to get refreshments and souvenirs. Sponsors can see where their signage will be displayed to plan their booths for best exposure.

"When we were first introduced to PointsMap we were an established event with world recognition and several awards in the triathlon market.  So, we were not necessarily looking for something to take us to the next level.  That quickly changed when Jerry and his team showed us exactly what PointsMap could do.  The first time we saw a PointsMap we knew this technology would fit perfectly into our event.  With multiple venues, courses, sponsors and festivities PointsMap allows us to share all of these locations and times with our athletes.
Effectively our entire event and web site can be shared in one central mapping system.  And now, with the addition of our Mobile App, PointsMap has given us and our athletes a tool that puts our event in the palm of our hand.  We couldn’t be more happy with our partnership with PointsMap."

PRESS RELEASE

PPD BEACH2BATTLESHIP TRIATHLON TO INTEGRATE
POINTSMAP TECHNOLOGY FOR ONLINE EVENT MAPPING

Customizable maps are tailored to the needs of the athlete, spectator or resident

Wilmington, N.C. – March 27, 2014 – The PPD Beach2Battleship Triathlon announced today the addition of PointsMap technology to its event website. The addition of PointsMap will enable athletes, spectators, and residents to customize geographic information to suit their individual needs and interests for navigation and place identification.

The Google-based maps will show up-to-date swim, bike and run courses, with typical zoom and pan features embedded for navigation. In addition, by selecting specific checkboxes adjacent to the online area map, users may choose among a list of display options. For instance, triathletes may be interested in the location of aid stations, transition locations, bike support and the finish line. Spectators may customize their map to identify restaurants, entertainment and restrooms. Residents could be interested in traffic detours or viewing locations. Event sponsors may have information included about their products or services.

“We constantly seek ways to improve and enhance the race experience for athletes and all involved in the PPD Beach2Battleship iron and half-iron distance triathlon,” said Jeremey Davis, PPD Beach2Battleship race director. “We have a great event, and the addition of PointsMap will make it even better for participants. PointsMap will enable racers and their families to spend time enjoying the event and all that Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach offer.”
